teaching themselves

this morning, Small has learnt from numberjacks that 6 can be split into two 3s. (I’m not going to promise that he knows he can do that with six things mind ;) )

Big is sitting on the floor counting her money and exchanging pounds in change for pound coins. Her arithmetic is improving rapidly :) “I like counting money” she says.

Small has just gone and got his clothes himself and with only minimal assistance got himself dressed. (The minimal assistance included stretching the neck of his shirt so that he could get it over his head, WHY are so many boys shirts constructed that way with the non stretchy necking?)

(Oh, and all of this followed the standard reading and writing. Small tends to draw while she’s writing too.)

Tim and I are discussing building projects - Big is fascinated by houses. I still want this - my birthday’s coming up ;)

Ms R loves Number Jacks too and keeps coming out with all sorts of number combinations. We’ll need something in the next level up soon though.

Great how playing with money speeds up the natural arithmetic learning processes! It’s how all my lot learned.
