It looks like a national register of children to me.

It doesn’t look like it’s saying anything new – we know they want to have each child on a database, and that standard info will surely contain stuff like ‘educational setting’. They specifically say that HEd children are not those missing education.

But if your child is not marked as home educated, and s/he can’t be marked as being at school, the default will be to assume that they are missing education, and enquire. So there will no longer be any such status as not known to LEA.

No, you are right Jax, but TBH, once they started talking about unified ‘Childrens services’ depts. and the information sharing index then it was only a matter of time anyway. Other than critising the principle behind the whole thing, which I don’t think is going to get very far, I’m not sure there is much to be done about it.

The only positive i can see is that if we ever do end up with a coherent list of children and where they are and what they are doing, we might even get them to have a coherent response… which might mean that certain LEAs aren’t allowed to bully so easily anymore.

TBH, if they ever get ot the point wheree they see how many HE kids there really are, they probably won’t want to make school compulsory, cos the extra numbers would kill the system!
