Have spent another day processing boxes – Tim removed a stack to go to garage at old house, and tomorrow I must remove some of the steadily accumulating charity shop and rubbish stuff or I’m going to run out of places to put boxes to process. It feels slightly liberating, although I feel terribly guilty about anything that is thrown away and slightly regretful about anything that is given away, unless it’s to someone that I know will give it a good home. So I love giving clothes to smaller friends or relatives, but am not so calm about dropping off bags at charity shops.

The children amused themselves on the ‘puter for a while, clubpenguin rules apparently, and then departed upstairs for some more time, before coming down for yet more HP. Today they watched Philosopher’s Stone, then broke for a while, then listened to the first three chapters of the Order of the Phoenix before I decided that Small was getting far too fidgety for his own good, so sent him off to wander about for a bit.

Did have to giggle when he confused himself mightily be calling me Hermione, apparently he sees himself as Ron, as he doesn’t look that much like Harry 😆

Somewhere in the middle of all this, the landlord popped around to see how we’re getting on – he’s had a couple of enquiries already it appears, but if we’re going to be out ahead of time, he’s happy to wait until we’re out rather than let ppl see the house laden with boxes. He wondered how come the children were having a day off, so I explained HE, though I chickened out of much discussion by not correcting his impression that I’m a teacher 😳

Big found her old doll sling in a pile of stuff that came out of a box, so got out a couple of her smaller baby dolls and played with those for a while, and they rounded off the day by watching yet more Maths Mansion, which we’d recorded a block of a couple of weeks ago. Sadly there doesn’t appear to be any more of it in the offing, as they really enjoy it. Personally I think it’s dire, but that’s more down to the presentation than the maths. They do seem to make it all terribly hard work though.

Pizza for the offspring and then off to bed, and we’ve the oven on for pizza for us too. Am still trying to view absolute running exhaustion as a positive sign.

Oh, and while I’m slightly afraid I might jinx this, I had a chat with Big today about how generally lovely she is being at the moment, and how much more pleasant it’s making life in general, and she seems to have noticed as well. I have no idea what’s brought it on, but long may it continue 🙂

  1. We’re clearing out lots of stuff to charity shop at the moment. Unless you have a willing recipient, it’s hard to know what to do with it all. There is some I try to find good homes for, and a little bit I’m keeping, but decluttering’s hard enough without having to actually find new homes for everything.

  2. I actually find dumping stuff at the charity shop almost liberating, it’s no longer my responsibility to deal with it and, as I chose my recipients carefully, I can be fairly sure that the moeny they get is going to go to somthing worthwhile. I won’t make use of these kerbside collections though as I’m not convinced how legit most of them are.
oh, and giggle about you being Hermione!

  3. I’ve had stuff refused by a charity shop before as they were too full! This was before the current recession. Good grief that annoyed me at the time!
I’ve just read ‘Deathly Hallows’ for the first time, I enver got round to it, it was great. I may go back and read the others again. My kids aren’t into it at all, so when I read it it’s during the few times I get a bit of peace 🙂

  4. we were in a shop a couple of weeks back that turned someone away – still, must be about a third of the high street is charity shop here, so shouldn’t imagine you’d have to go far to find somewhere.
Don’t think that’s going to be the last lot either!
