Tues through to Friday

Yes, it’s another rapid review post. I will catch up with myself, it can be done!

Tuesday was our last morning swimming lesson of the summer and we were, as usual, late. Sigh. Small is *so* not good at mornings. After the lesson, which seemed to go well, we went on for some crazy golf with swimming friends.

crazy golf

I didn’t bother scoring as it turns out that Small is really not coordinated enough for crazy golf, but they had a great time anyway. And I finally got pictures of dragonflies. (If they aren’t dragonflies but are the thing that looks like dragonflies, please don’t tell me. I want to go on thinking I got the pic 🙂 )

Then we went home. And had lunch. And later on we got organised again and went out to the library to take part in the reading challenge (space hop this year). And on the way back we called in on D & S for a cuppa and then eventually home. Which meant in the course of the day I walked nearly 9 km, mainly with a baby on my back. So why, when I got around to weighing myself for the first time in a month have I not lost any more weight???

Grump.

I’m not sure *how* to increase my activities level much beyond this. Apart from the swimming membership I signed up to at the pool, did I mention that already? Oh, and I want to build yoga into my day. But that is all for another post.

So, Wednesday. Let’s see. That was home ed group day. Tim needed the car so he dropped us off at the hall, and the children did papermaking. I’ve wanted to do it for the longest time, as I always suspected it would be a fun craft, turns out I’m absolutely right. It’s really straightforward as well, and excellent to do out in the sun. (And even better when there’s someone really organised who gets the kids going and sorts it all out, while I get to play with the babies 🙂 )

So that’s Weds, papermaking in the sun and playing with friends.

Thursday. Ah yes. Promised the children swimming by 3 o’clock and then got caught up in writing, and we eventually made it there by 4.30. Not that I actually get to swim, I just stand around in the pool holding the baby while my other two fish play and swim and gambol. They love it though. Big did some stamina/ speed training and we spent an hour in the pool before clambering out and finally heading for home.

Bringing us to Friday. Another library trip. So they are both 4 books into their 6 book challenge, and hopefully we’ll get it finished this weekend. The other thing they’ve been doing is writing. Suddenly, with no pressure, no suggestions, no impetus from me, they are both writing books. Small’s are quite incredible, being visual in terms of font choice, colour and size as well as carefully chosen words. And Big’s are quite incredible in that she has always had such a problem with creativity given her need for perfection. She has always thought that Small is much more imaginative than her, and she’s also inhibited by his ability to spell so much better than her. So I’m thrilled that she has overcome this and is writing of her own accord.

Did mean we didn’t get out to the library as early as I’d wanted though 😉

And Friday evening was the first swim club session of term. Big seemed to really enjoy it. She’s hoping so much that she’s going to get moved up into the squad soon, and I hope for her sake that she does too.

Then we came home to wait for my parents to arrive. And that will be another blog post 🙂

  2. Excited to hear that Big is writing and had an upturn in confidence in creativity 🙂

  3. Eek, swimming! I just remembered I need to check – and sure enough, our swimming lessons resume tomorrow. I hope Emer goes this time, last time she refused every time, which is money down the drain…
