thought provoking

“Like other forces across the UK, Strathclyde has assigned several officers to be based full-time at secondary schools, where they can develop relationships with children.

And it is hoped cognitive behavioural therapy for stab victims will help them identify and avoid the behaviour that led to them getting injured in the first place. ”

From Cutting Edge Policing

Now, the context of this quote is that police are using data from hospitals to identify times and places where violent incidents might occur and that they aren’t actually able in all cases to investigate the specific crime/ criminal as that hasn’t been officially reported. However, where you do know the stab victim, I would very much prefer that we were tracking down the stabber and giving them therapy to help them identify and avoid the behaviour that leads to them stabbing ppl in the first place. Or am I missing something here?

Just a little something for you all to be thinking about in my absence 🙂

One response to “thought provoking”

  1. That is pretty much the attitude in Scottish state schools to all bullying. It must be something the victim did – they’re at fault so we (the school) are not 🙁 Rather blatant statement there though – they’re usually a little more underhand with it!
