Dazed and confused.

I got in just before 2 this morning, so by the time I’d had a cup of tea and calmed down, it was 2.30 before we got to bed. Big came in at 7.24 to tell us loudly that she was quietly going downstairs. Hm. Tim rose and shone around 9.30 I think, and brought me a cup of tea that I actually managed to drink while it was still hot.

Dragged myself up and about and did the monthly or thereabouts ritual of searching for library books. Where do they go? We have a shelf they are supposed to stay on, but Papercrafts Around the World is missing in action, as is When a Monster Is Born. Grr. They are probably in a box somewhere behind the sofa – Tim quite reasonably boxed up a bunch of stuff a couple of weekends ago, and I haven’t got around to sorting it all out yet. This weekend probably. Perhaps. We’ll see.

Anyway, we made it to the library and I grovelled about Too Many Babies (Colour Crackers) which hasn’t been seen for some months now. We still have the bag and the accompanying tape, but I cannot find the book. 🙁 Our library doesn’t charge for items lost on children’s tickets though, so at least there was no cost to my inefficiency this time. This does obliquely remind me I have phone calls to make today – I tried to cancel some bizarre insurance on a credit card the other day, and the guy persuaded me to wait until he’d sent me some details in the post. He hasn’t sent the details, and I’m going to ring up and be cross at them, as I think that’s just fraudulent, trying to drag out the time I’m paying by another month.

And back to today and children. Tim is upstairs somewhere, trying to set up a (semi)new printer that he went and fetched this morning. Last time I counted he was up to 5 colour cartridges. He’s been down for paper, so he must be near the testing phase. Once he gets it working, we’ve to print out vouchers from Big and Small’s email – they have both been sent stuff by the build-a-bear workshop, as it’s a year since we went and spent their Christmas money on stuffed toys. Hm, scrolled back through the blog looking for links, and didn’t find any, but I did find Liveotherwise bookclub forum discussion. I never did read that book, it’s still sat on my to-be-read shelf. Anyone want to give it another go? Kris, did you read it last year?

Right, I’ve already lost track of what I’ve said so far, what I’d just been thinking and even which way is up. Think I’ll go get some lunch.

  1. Ooh we’ve got a library book in that kind of yet to be rediscovered place too 😳

  2. glad it isn’t just me…

  3. Try under the sofa. That’s where I found a book we had lost for ages.
