First offset Friday

and I think we’re all a little dazed and confused. Tim departed for work early doors, and will be back mid afternoon to finish his day from home. I’ll probably have time for a cuppa with him before I head out to start at 4 – longer term I might not go into the office for this shift, but right at the moment it makes more sense.

Big brought me a cup of tea sometime this morning, and is intent on Look and Read, with a brief interlude for Shakespeare’s animated tales. It’s the first one of those I’ve seen, Shakespeare: The Animated Tales (Twelfth Night), and I found it slightly hard work, but that was probably because I was trying to remember it from school. She seemed to enjoy it a lot.

Small is having a letters burst. He wanted a book to write in, so I found him an exercise book, and he’s filled pages with mimi, inmi, mini, ni, interspersed with the occasional oinc. Wonder which sandpaper letters he’s been practising then? 😉 Once he’s written them, he asks me what they say – seems an odd way round to do things, but he’s very happy with it. He serenaded me with some tunes from Sound of Music as well, and has now taken himself off to work on the computer (Thomas & Friends – Trouble on the Tracks (PC)).

We’re going to have to go out to do a bit of shopping – I’m thinking we might go and have lunch in a supermarket cafe somewhere. I could do with finding a Morrisons so that I can pay in the grant funding cheque, but it’s always chaos there, so Sainsbury’s might win out (ah, remembers there’s an HSBC near there, so that would do nicely). And Amazon are trying to tempt me with 70% off various DVD first season box sets. Would you believe I have never seen the very first episode of ER: Complete Season 1 [1995]? I don’t watch it any more, I kind of drifted away after Mark Green went, but I’d love to go back to the start. Maybe if I get my recruitment bonus for Tim 😉

  1. Lyddie’s also been doing that: writing words then asking me what they say. It’s often a word like pdxzmlohf.

  2. ISTR SB did the same sort of thing at one point. Re ER ISTR that the first episode was dramatic, though I suspect it wouldn’t seem quite so much now
