Big has been attached to the couch, reading Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince. She finished it this evening, and pronounced it very sad, thus proving she’s made of sterner stuff than me, as I wept copiously 🙁 She wants to discuss it, but it’s a bit difficult as I don’t want her to blow the plot for Small, so we snatched a few moments here and there as he was carting his belongings back upstairs. She’s moved on to the Deathly Hallows after checking that the adult version book I had out of the library is still the same book, just with a different cover.
She did briefly leave the cushions for a burst with the cuisenaire rods earlier, not sure what they were doing with them, but Small played with them for a while as well. He quizzed me on days in the year, week, month and so on yet again – I keep hoping that one of these times it will go in. And he wrote to Princess, inviting her to his (ludicrously belated) birthday party next weekend. Will have to contact Bil and see if that can be arranged.
Small is struggling with the idea of moving. He had a major tantrum today about the things I’m getting rid off, despite them being toys he’s never touched and clothes he’s grown out of. I’m hoping to do a bit of a blitz on his room tomorrow and prune it down somewhat, but I’ve got to be careful not to traumatise him further. So far plus points for the move include being nearer to C (from the manor) and the Beans – both ppl he suggested out as ppl he’d like to see more often. His major negative point is moving away from Princess, despite the fact that we hardly ever see her. I’ve told him that he might be able to email with her, and he likes to write to her, so those are plus points, but he’s still not convinced.
