I’ve been toying with the idea of building a geodesic dome since someone posted instructions to a list (mp?) a while back. Felt like an outdoor activity though, but I was wondering about doing it at our puddlers group sometime, where at least we’ve got a big hall.
Big is sitting watching Extreme Archaeology, and she just said “what’s that made of?” – I glanced up, and said “oh, it’s some kind of tent”. Then I took a proper look, and realised it was a dome 🙂
So I pulled up a couple of websites, and showed her some instructions on how to make them, and we’re agreed that we’re going to try to build a model tomorrow. I’ve got some art straw type things that came from opitec, just got to work out what to use to fasten them together.
Love it when a plan comes together!

we made geodesic dome using rolled up news paper, stuck together with wide masking tape. The dog adopted it as a kennel !
ROFL Katya!
Sounds great Jax – hope we’ll get pics!
Everybody bring a big wodge of newspapers to Bradway on Monday! I have bags and bags of the ruddy things. What a fab project – maybe my children will adopt it as their kennel… 🙂
I got papers too! Will retrieve them froim the recycling if we come on Monday.
