The world is against me

or at the very least the weather.

It’s wet and windy and not very warm, definitely not the weather to take three children to a nature reserve for a day out. If it were just my two I might consider it as they have wellies, waterproof trousers and coats and quite like it. The third child doesn’t have all that stuff, and looks like he would blow away in a strong wind, so maybe not.

Which is rather a shame, as I could do with getting out of the house today. Can’t even take them to the library – shut on Weds. The local soft play will be packed I’d imagine as it’s still Easter hols (hence having the extra child). They are amusing themselves atm by crashing around with a couple of balloons – I *hate* balloons (don’t ask me how or why, it’s nearly a phobia, I just get all wound up when they come near me) and I hate having the floor bouncing underneath me, and I’m not overly fussed with the arguments they are having, but at least they aren’t demanding input from me and we turned the tweenies off.

So if we can’t get out of the house, what can we do? Aargh…

for myself, I’ve done most of the washing up so far.

gazed sadly at yesterday’s washing, which I left out as it was still damp – rather more than damp now.

replied to two business emails.

read blogs, list, forum.

Think I’ll make myself a list and see if I can get through a few small business things that don’t require too much thought, while attempting to resist throttling the children. Not their fault it’s raining after all.

  1. It’s brightening up a bit here now… sort of. Is it any better there?

  2. Yup – they are all out charging round the swamp that used to be my garden. You know, it’s terrible, Big only gets one batch of structured exercise a week – can’t imagine how she stays so fit and thin 😉 (And if you haven’t watched Honey we’re killing the kids or happened on my rants about it, that won’t make any sense at all…)

  3. Yep, blue sky and fluffy clouds here now

  4. When they delivered the skip this morning at 9.00 am it was throwing it down with rain and windy. It is now very sunny with fluffy clouds and still very windy though. I have left Steve and Phillip to fill the rest of the skip as Little chick has gashed her knees in one of her escape from colditz attempts. Off to do housework. I can only suggest to get them doing something they can get engrossed in without much input from you eg play doh or something of that not-too-messy nature.

  5. Sun’s just coming out here too 🙂
Yeah, I’d offer playdough – on a good day, that keeps them going for ages. Of course, on a bad day …. well … you know what it’s like!

  6. So what did you do with them?

  7. yep, we’ve had playdough out for that very reason too here today 🙂

  8. It’s a gorgeous day here today jax, what’s it like where you are?
