Sunday morning in the garden

Bedraggled is the word for it really. It’s a bit soggy out there. Things to note when pootling around in your pyjamas 😉

But if you squint and stroll and look around, there’s all sorts going on.

This guy looks how I feel..

Whereas I don’t think this flower got the whole autumn memo. In denial? Last year they flowered stubbornly right the way through winter. It was beautiful.

I’m not holding out a lot of hope for these strawberries. Blossom in October? (As an aside what am I doing wrong with the shooting that they look so white instead of slightly cream? Anyone?)

This is more what we expect. A bit of death and decay, and a shot of colour from the leaves around it.

No, not blossom! Autumn we said, not Spring!

I love these little promises of something good yet to come. Nature ebbs and flows, there aren’t hard edges, no binary states. Lesson to be learnt there I feel.

What, where’s the cobweb shot? Oh go on then.

Are we done now?

I feel better for that. And for the lie in. Half past 9! (Daughter is away camping with Duke of Edinburgh overnight, so no early swimming or anything else. Bliss. ) I did mutter and grumble a bit about the macro shots I can’t quite get with my Powershot but until I can afford around £400 for a mirrorless model this is where we’re at. (And I love my Powershot for portability. Not going to be taking anything bigger on my morning runs really!)

So today is about a bit of housework, a bit of taxi-ing, daydreaming about the life I think I want, while getting on reluctantly with the life I have. I need to have half an eye on how to move from one to the other. But with acceptance of where I am too.

Yes, I am in a slightly better place today. Thank you for asking. How are you?

  1. That was quite funny, when I got to the end of this post, about you dreaming aboutth elife you want. I had just been thinkning that I’d like your life – a bit of photography in the garden, a bit og housework, a bit of taxi-ing around. And all in the lush green countryside by the sea. The weather cool, no one telling you what to do, no answering to a boss (or in my case demanding parents). Sounds like heaven to me.

    1. Put like that it does sound pretty good 🙂 I think most of my problems could be described as self inflicted, but they’re no less real for that. I’ll explore that a bit more and see what I can write about it without losing the focus I seem to be regaining at the moment.

  2. What gorgeous photos x

    1. Thanks Susan.
