Sky News : Three-Year-Old Joins Mensa

Sky News : Three-Year-Old Joins Mensa

His parents now want to see him start school full-time.

But several schools have told them they feel that he may not be “emotionally ready” to start lessons.

***

Oh dear. I would have thought school at the age of three would be the worse place for him – he’ll get bullied for being clever, will stand out a mile and won’t be particularly challenged there either. Hohum.

  1. I totally agree with you Jax. He’d just be made to feel like a freak from day 1 & the feeling would never leave him IMO.

well at least schools sensible enough to say no! poor lad.

  3. hmm- I think theyre beginning to take on board that too much structure too young can be a bad thing. Did you hear about that school nursery last week that had a bad Ofsted report as they had too much formal learning. I cant remember what it was on, now, Womans Hour?

  4. Joining Mensa isn’t particularly to be recommended, either. Although that is where I met DH, I suppose, but generally speaking it’s full of very egotistical people full of hot air.

  5. You too, huh? Their email lists were quite useful though 😉

  6. Plus he’d be cleverer than any of the teachers there

  7. Jax (only just got back to this one) – I was a member of Mensa before there was such a thing as e-mail!

  8. I was one of the second bunch of moderators of their first unofficial email list. We featured in the mag with a piccie of Big when she was born – first unoff list babe! How very sad… 😉
