Educational stuff as well

More of that Exeter maths book consumed today as indeed there was yesterday – although apparently it’s got to be mummy helping, as when I retreated upstairs to do some work (without children, during the day!) that was pretty much the end of it. Interesting, as I’d thought maybe she’d get on better with Tim assisting given that we seem to fight so much of the time. But no.

They did do geomags (we’re now down one ballbearing, probably somewhere behind all the stuff that I haven’t unpacked yet) and Big is now having Peter Pan and Wendy as a bedtime story as they’ve finished The Wizard of Oz for the third time. Although I don’t usually approve of abridged books, this is a specific children’s version that I had as a child (somewhat rewritten probably rather than just abridged and has lovely pictures – can’t be bothered to go find it just now, so will update with link tomorrow).

I’m thinking of putting together a moveable alphabet and doing some labels for round the house – wondering if maybe focussing on writing instead of reading for a bit might get us over the current hump. And deeply gorgeous – Big made me a get well card all by herself, all her own idea. She can be a rather lovely child. 🙂

  1. oh yes, the Peter Pan retold for little people – i have that. the real thing is so wordy.

  2. Yes, I thought Big was rather lovely too a couple of times this week. Infact both your two were very demonstrative of how much they loved you actually (Small by screaming whenever you were not in sight or cuddle reach and Big with the way she flew across the room when Claudia got off your lap to get her long awaited cuddle!)
And and big gasp at the missing geomag ball, that would be really bothering me…

  3. I would need counselling if we lost a geomag. I couldn’t sleep for nights as it was after we lost the number 8 rod, and there was this space in the box. Fortunatly, it turned up with the slyvanian families, where it had been pretending to be a park bench. How dare she use her imagination in that way.

  4. How do you do geomags? lol Actually i heard some crying at the w/e that I think had something to do with falling down towers of ‘stix n balls’ (are they compatible? I dont know) – i stayed out of it. I saw the geomags going back into the polysterene box- I’m sure no-one would dare lose them (knowing what I’m like), but I’m just tempted to mix them all up in a box so you dont know how many there are. In fact I’m tempted to do that with most things atm lol.
