Our second stop over visitor was Tim’s elder daughter L, who arrived late Monday evening. Which obviously meant we stopped up very late chatting. Again. I’m really enjoying these late night chatting sessions where I get to watch Tim and miscellaneous others drinking good wine 😉
Late night meant leisurely morning – children were thrilled that L was with us, as they both adore her, and even more thrilled that she had agreed to go swimming with them. Pool was open for public swimming in the afternoon, so after lunch we strolled down, with a stop off at M&S to buy L a swimming costume.
Think the children enjoyed the swimming more than the adults – turned out that the only bit of the pool that was open was the main bit, and the flume was out of action, so Big was rather disappointed by that. But she poddled up and down the pool with L, and I persuaded Small to occasionally try without ring or zoodle (please note, it is a zoodle, not a noodle as it was made by zoggs, and you will be corrected if you get it wrong. Sigh) which wasn’t as successful as it could have been but wasn’t anywhere near as disastrous as it could have been either.
L and I staged a mutiny after 50 minutes and dragged them out – we were both shivering and Small’s lips were turning blue! The changing rooms were very much warmer, as were the showers, so we thawed out for a while in there while watching the little children in school uniform thronging in for their lessons. They also have free handdryer type hair dryers situated high up on the walls so we got to dry off our hair which went towards stopping the freezing too.
Even slower walk back through town – the swimming pool is at the bottom of the only hill around, the one I like to refer to as the edge 😉 Makes the walk back less than amusing to being with, but at least once you’ve made it up there you know you’ve done the hard work! Meandered back via the postoffice to post back the barbie clothes that had been sent to me by accident (I’d bought action man clothes from the seller and she’d done something odd with her labels and sent me the wrong thing before I’d paid for anything!) while L and Big looked at clothes in the Wharf. And finally back in time for a cup of tea before Tim ran L to the station to catch a train back to the big smoke. We’re hoping to see her again before the actual end of her final term – Tim at least is going to go and see the show of her class’s work.
The kids crammed in another game of Carcassonne before a slightly late bedtime, Small lost again. Hohum.
