It’s been a good week for books this week, though not brilliant for reading. I won a fantastic competition with Two Roads Books for a copy of every one of their books this year. The first package arrived this week, and had me sobbing just reading the cover flap of one of the books. More details on that soon.
Smallest got a fantastic book to review as well. Jack’s Amazing Shadow is a really lovely story about a little boy with a misbehaving shadow. There are some great pictures, and it’s attractive to read aloud. Turned out Small loved it too as it has instructions on how to make shadow pictures inside the covers, so they spent a very pleasant half hour making dogs and birds before bedtime. Books that drag in more than one child are always good as far as I’m concerned. And picture books with mileage go down very well.
Along with the other books I got from Two Roads, I got another copy of The Sea on Our Skin. As I already have my own copy, this one is up for grabs. I also got a full hardback of This is what Happy Looks Like – as I’ve got a proof and I’m feeling generous I’ll toss that in to the giveaway too. The background: I’ve challenged Big to read 52 books this year. She will probably be mentioning them over here on her blog. I’m also going to have a crack at reading at least 52 books myself, and more importantly, I’m going to keep track of what books I’m reading to the little ones. I’m going to do all of that in a weekly post, and I’ve also set up a google plus community which you’re very welcome to join. Polkerris, near Par in Corwall. It’s just the right size to go with children – big enough for them to be free, small enough that you don’t have to panic if you lose sight of them. And there’s a great pub too….
Broadstairs Beach I love it there. my late Grandparents were from there.
For me its Holkham beach in north Norfolk. Beautiful place with golden sands, a pine forest and big blue skies…
Favourite beach? That’s a tough question. You’d think I’d say Ord beach, Skye, but it might also be Weymouth Beach. I lived there for six of the toughest months of my life and I used to go down to the beach at night, and dance in the dark to Roxy Music on my Walkman. Kept me sane. Just.
