Priorities and perspective.

I had lots of ideas for posts bouncing around in my head tonight. And I thought I’d be able to get the children down quickly and have some time to write.

That was two hours ago. Smallest is *still* awake. I am approaching the end of my tether, wits and my sense of humour went walkabout some time ago. I’ve been awake since just after 6 and I’ve driven for 3 1/2 hours or thereabouts. Sadly she slept for that time, explaining the current awake state.

So, priorities. I am beginning to identify the things that are important to me. And I think if I aim to do something towards at least one important aim each day I will feel a sense of achievement. Which then gives me energy the next day to keep trying. So for example yesterday I hoovered and did washing (tick against pleasant house and clothed children). I moved on a couple of work related emails (tick work/profile building). I got a box of things out of the garage and dealt with it, while looking for a 20 year old manuscript I want to revisit. (Tick decluttering, personal fulfilment. )

I think there was more. Oh yes, running.  Endorphins, exercise and quiet time.

Today? Rather taken up with history and driving. But I took up an issue on twitter and will follow it up. I’ve spread the word about Nestle wanting to privatise water and I’ve signed the eu initiative. And I moved a box of stuff belonging to someone else out of the house.

I also acquired a large(r) box of stuff, and 7 books. (Please enter my book giveaway! ) hmm. Not a good net result. At the moment I need more lot than in.

But that will have to do. The toddler head finally fallen asleep and I’m not far behind. Ponderings on my home ed hypocrisy will have to wait till tomorrow.

  1. It’s hard enough to keep to a schedule while working from home and running the household at the same time but you are doing this plus educating at home. No wonder it’s tough. I’m hopeless at time management otherwise I’d try to help. Or maybe it’s not a case of time management but rather a case of acceptance that you are doing ok.

  2. Trying to make achievements is a very good plan, and one I always fail to do because I get caught up in the details! I seriously need to declutter the books too, but have a huge backlog to write about. So I’m catching up on reading blogs instead 😉 And, typically, I made that all me-me-me when I was meaning to comment on the great things you’ve been doing. Ooops… xx

Nope, it’s good to share similar experiences. If you ever crack book decluttering let me know 😉
