There are perks to being a book blogger. One of those is getting access to proofs before publication. There’s a site called NetGalley which does this with e-arcs (advanced reading copies) which is even better, because it means no hard copy of a not quite finished book lying around.
Playing Tyler by T L Costa is the first book I’ve read from strange chemistry. I’ve been looking forward to it. It is told with split focus on two main characters, Tyler and Ani. I found Tyler more plausible, although oddly, less pleasant to read. He has adhd and the parts describing what goes on in his mind were so immersive that at times I felt almost physically sick and had to stop reading.
The story has some Ender’s Game echoes for me (I don’t do spoilers though, so you’ll have to read both if you want to know what they are. ) The writing is powerful and though some aspects are bleak, it’s not at all a depressing read. In fact I found it exciting and it really dragged me in. Not sure it’s one for Big though, might see if Tim wants to read it.
Really excellent read, I thoroughly recommend it.
