More sun, more gardening, and Doctor Who.

Small started our interactions today by having a tantrum at me for picking up his things from the middle of the floor and putting them on top of the shelves. He couldn’t get them from there, he pointed out, loudly. Which was the point, I replied over the screams. It took a while to get through to him, and I know it’s only the first in many lessons – he doesn’t learn this sort of thing particularly rapidly.

Big, by contrast, was trying to be lovely, and kept fetching me drinks. I do appreciate the thought – at the moment, I’ve even gone off tea and I’m struggling to drink enough liquids of other types to keep myself going.

They watched terrible TV and then got kicked outside – Small had another wailing fit later on when Tim asked Big to go and garden with him, although he cheered up rapidly when asked to come along. Apparently he didn’t actually garden, just fiddled on in the way, but it usually does take him a while to work out how to get involved productively. In the meantime, I got to grips with conics, and worked through some pages of proofs, got to the end, pleased to be right, then realised I’d started off with the wrong numbers. How does that work then? Ah well, tomorrow is another day. Although it’s getting very close to my extended deadline, don’t think I’ll be getting over 90 for this TMA 🙁 To achieve a Pass 1 (with distinction) I have to get over 85% in every TMA and in the exam. Somehow can’t see that happening with this course.

I also managed to be outside long enough to hang out washing, which is a first since we’ve moved here I think. Shame I didn’t go and get it in before it got dark really. Daresay it isn’t dry yet anyway, it wasn’t terribly early that I made it out there.

We also spent a little time working with Bill Oddie’s Birding Pack attempting to identify the two birds who keep coming to eat the bread in the garden. I think they are Wood Pigeons, not very exciting I know, but it was more the learning to use the index, and the identification features I was after, so that part of it went quite well. Shame that neither the cat nor the children were about when a squirrel came dashing across the grass as well – the cat likes squirrels, at least he thinks he might, as he hasn’t managed to catch one yet 😉

And we finished off the day with a family viewing of Doctor Who. The children were hugely excited to see David Tennant again, and Small is now desperate to see the confidential to find out how they made the bus fly 🙂
