We love Katie Morag. Somewhere in a box in the garage we have a large edition of several of the stories combined, given to Big, iirc, by friends some years ago. And these stories and pictures do stand up well to larger editions. In fact, that would be my only complaint about this particular version – in the mini treasure version you can’t really appreciate the pictures fully, and they really are worth appreciating.
Smallest is probably a bit young for this tbh, she gets a bit impatient as I’m reading the whole story, as there are several sentences on each page. Probably more suited as a read aloud to a child around 3 or 4 I’d guess, or possibly a good starter story for a child once they are happy reading alone – though it’s not a limited vocabulary, so could cause some difficulties. (Even I don’t know what ‘boorach’ means or how to pronounce it, and so I can imagine a child grinding to a halt at that point.)
Nevertheless, a book I enjoyed reading, and Smallest likes to look at the pictures. And this was book 3.
The boring small print…If you don’t want to miss out on any of the news on the challenge, please sign up to my rss feed – there’s an email link over in the side, or you can sub with a reader. I’m also on twitterusing the hashtag #100books and facebook.
If you want to donate, please feel free, there’s a link in the sidebar or you can use this one. If you’d like to join in with your own version of the challenge, please leave me a comment to let me know so that I can link to you. And also, the booklink above is an affiliate link, but it’s set up with its own tracking id, so anything bought via a 100 book challenge link is separate to those usually on my blog, and I’ll be donating that money through to Oxfam as well.
