In another life

in another world just slightly removed from this one…

I live here. (Except my one has the full garden too 😀 )

We have two children – gave up on the idea of a third when we had the first miscarriage. Then instead of commuting up and down the motorway and the kids going to school, we moved up to Meltham, and after a short length of time as a senior programmer at someone else’s firm, we set up on our own, writing web applications with eco overtones, which allows us to home educate as well.

I’m happy. And very busy. And on New Years Eve I was a little torn that we couldn’t spend the evening with my friends as we were spending the time with my youngest sister and her daughter, celebrating their birthdays.

There is a small wistfulness in my life – I wanted that third baby, but I just can’t commit to going through all that pain again. Miscarriages aren’t fun. And I don’t know how we’d fit another baby into our lives anyway, we’re both so busy with home educating and working round the clock. Working for ourselves from home and educating the children too can be a little intense, but we get out and about and do a lot of walking – we live in a glorious part of the country for it. And we do loads of camping in the summer.

We have plenty of local friends and the children love where we live, although it’s a bit annoying having to use the car as much as we do for socialising and travelling to things like swimming. We’re looking into getting a horse for me and Big to share – I think it’s time she learnt to ride, and I’d like to boost my exercise levels a little. I’m hoping that my back and hips will tolerate riding better than they tolerate impact exercise. I have to do something to keep in shape now that I’m getting older 😉

In my spare time I enjoy reading, and I’ve just started writing my own crochet patterns for sale on ravelry and etsy. And one of these days, I will write that book…

Re-imaginings. A different life. Where I could be if something just a little different had happened. Partly inspired by watching Steve Bingham looping video and thinking about The Margarets, while driving through a village that I thought once we would live in.

I don’t really know how to comment on this post, although I want to.
To say that house is gorgeous and I love the odd-shaped rooms sounds trite after reading on.
There is little I can say about your miscarriage that you haven’t probably heard before, and I can’t say I know what you’re going through because nobody ever does. But I am sorry.
I need to make an effort to read your blog more often. Your posts always make me stop. And think.

    1. Thank you. It’s always difficult to know what to say about miscarriage but sorry doesn’t usually hurt.
Thankyou for your comment about my blog.
