questions by Joanna
1. If you were an animal, what would you be, and why?
Um, ah. Something in the cat family, but not too big. Wildcat maybe? Strong, independent, not too many natural predators, and not that much of a relationship with humans. Works for me.
2. Do you have any personal ambitions, what are they, and why?
Oh loads! I want to write a book. I’ve been writing since I was a teenager, not that I’ve done much recently. Well actually, I don’t want to just write a book – I’ve done that several times already 😉 I want to get a book published. Then another one. I don’t really know why – there are two ambitions I grew up with being very small, I can’t do the other one now (to be a vet, since you’re asking) so I’ve got even more determination to do the other.
I’d like to travel more, with the children, but I agonise over the environmental impact (I know, I know, I agonise over everything…) so I’d like to do it in a way that minimised the impact and made a positive difference wherever I was going.
I’d like to change the world. I’ll keep you updated on that one.
3. What in your life (apart from having your children) are you most proud of, whether it’s something you have or something you’ve done?
Aargh, that’s really difficult. I have absolutely no idea. I’ve been pondering this since I read the questions, and I still have no idea. Um, perhaps being me? That I feel I haven’t sold out to the pressures of my family to be something I’m not – I am so the black sheep in my family, and I get pressure all the time about the bits I do that are different to the norm – vegetarianism, breastfeeding, co-sleeping (not that I actually want to be doing that any more, but that’s another story!), home education. But I’m not doing these things to be different, or to be proud of them, iyswim, I’m doing them because I’ve got to, so I don’t see them particularly as something to be proud of.
4. If you won £1 million, what would be the first thing you would do with it? What else would you spend it on?
Pay off the mortgage (and other debts)! And breathe a deep sigh of relief. Then sit back, and look at where I would really like to live and how – I’d like to have somewhere semi-selfsufficient, if that makes sense, a sustainable, environmentally home.
5. What do you wish you had learned at school that you didn’t?
That it doesn’t matter so much. The academic stuff, that is, there’s more to life – it’s a matter of perspective. I did learn that eventually at school, but not until quite late in the day, and I got the hang of it at just the wrong time, so I didn’t do nearly as well in my A levels as I should have done, or could have done. But hey, you live and learn 😉
after you’ve answered, post this bit at the bottom 🙂
If YOU want to be interviewed:
1. Leave me a comment saying “interview me.â€
2. I will respond by asking you five questions (not the same as you see here).
3. You will update your blog/site with the answers to the questions. (If you don’t have a blog, let this inspire you to begin one!!)
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions
