feels like I'm clearing my desk

brought in two loads of washing, currently defrosting the freezer (which will also lead to washing the kitchen floor!) and I mowed the lawn this afternoon.

Tomorrow I’ve got to sort this room out so that Tim feels comfortable in it, I’d like to make a start on that tonight, but I unwisely had a beer with tea, to celebrate mowing the lawn and now I feel like falling over rather than doing anything.

I have, as usual, left vast piles of stuff til the last minute – I think a very large part of me somehow didn’t believe I was really going to go to work. But I haven’t managed to come up with any really good excuses for not going, like pregnancy (in fact I’m going to be starting mid period, how excellent is that?) or winning the lottery (buying a ticket would probably help) and I know I’m going to enjoy the working bit of it, it’s more the driving 45 miles and being out of the house all day every day that is getting me down.

Hohum.

Small was up slightly before the crack of dawn this morning – one of our more loony neighbours appeared to be using a power tool, so despite the fact that it hadn’t reached 6am, I couldn’t persuade him to go back to sleep. Ended up taking him into bed with me, which reminded me beautifully why we’re trying to move him out 😉 That disruption meant I then ended up sleeping in til gone 10, aargh. Pottering around not getting on with anything, and then my parents popped in. Which at least meant Small agreed to getting dressed. He’ll do just about anything for Grandma 😆

Then this afternoon I got busy. Impressed? I even managed to fit in making proper pizza somewhere amongst everything else. Did mean that the kids were very late to bed, and despite me sitting up there with crochet, Small refused to settle. Big was having an attitude as well, I’m trying to be understanding as I’m sure she is very stressed atm, but I draw the line at being thumped, so she spent some time sitting in the hall 🙁 Then eventually Small hit me in the face so he ended up back in the cot, and finally it’s all gone quiet up there.

Progress is being made with the hoodie, I’ve now got both front pieces completed properly (I think, wish they put pictures on patterns) and I’m part way into the first sleeve. It looks like it could be rather nice 🙂 Big spent a large part of today listening to a book on tape – Temmi and the Flying Bears which we bought in book form from the library a while back, but she didn’t enjoy as a bedtime book. When she spotted in on tape though, she insisted on having it, and listened right the way through this afternoon. It’s only 2 1/2 horus after all 😯 Small’s contribution to the chaos was to attempt to unwind both tapes 🙁

Now I’d better get off and sort the kitchen out – despite our best efforts the other day, Tim spotted another small visitor earlier today, so I’m going to completely blitz everything (again) and we’ve got a humane trap. Then I think I’d better go for an early night…

  1. don’t know what to say. it will be ok.

  2. no, I don’t know what to say either – not sure if it will be okay, personally, at least not at first! It will be different. And I think it will be good but somehow if I’m completely honest I doubt whether it will feel okay to you at first.
So, what does ‘sorting a room out so that Tim feels comfortable in it’ entail?!

  3. *hugs* hope it’s not going to be too bad
