Early tonight

as I’m shattered.

Let’s see, after the pretty good swimming lesson, we had a reasonable start to the afternoon – Big and I sat down together and worked through some of the puzzles in the Fox Kids magazine. Small fell asleep before lunch and slept for 3 1/2 hours! He doesn’t look overly awake now, and I’m hoping he’s still going to go down at a reasonable hour, we’ve to get up early for swimming again, and I’m so tired right now I can barely see straight.

Sarah popped in with family to pick up keys (it’s her cat I’ve been feeding you see 😉 ) but didn’t stop long as they’ve had a hectic holiday and were all tired too.

Big found the basket of stuff I’d stashed for precisely this purpose and did some puzzles in a colouring book – although we are increasingly running into a stubbornness that if she doesn’t think she can do it right, she won’t try at all. And a lot of the time she underestimates her own abilities. We played three games of dominoes – I took the decider. She’s pretty good at it though.

More Dragon Tales while tea was cooking – I can see that I might end up rationing this particular game! And the tv hasn’t gone on at all today, and it was only asked for once, and that was to watch her monkey programme (which unfortunately isn’t showing any more. Hate the way channels show a few of a series and then stop!) – when I couldn’t find it she didn’t ask for anything else.

We’ve had a bit of a fallout at bath time – her being silly and me being tired is not a good combination – but overall it’s been another good day. Fingers crossed, but I think we might finally be figuring out this being at home together lark, which is just as well, as I’ve had no call backs on any contract work. 🙁

Oh, and one other thing – realised that I forgot to mention Small’s latest achievement. He was playing (children’s) golf at my mother’s yesterday – hitting a golf size plastic ball with a child size plastic club. I thought it was rather impressive for a child who has only been walking for two weeks!

  1. Is it a summer holiday swimming course then? How long does it go on for? Hope tomorrow’s lesson is good too, anyway. 🙂

  2. very impressive – think I may have curtailed my two’s ball skills iwth the whole no throwing in the house rule 😉
oh and yes please to the John doobry book – will return as soon as read!

  3. It’s a weeks course, which seemed fine when I booked it, but seems like an awful lot of early mornings when a certain Small seems to be insomniac again. 🙁

  4. and the cat was happy with the feeding and doesn’t seem to have missed us at all. Thanks

  5. Well done Small and well done Jax!
