A, B, C, D, E, F….

G!

Thanks to Dora, Big spent yesterday memorising her alphabet. Or at least attempting to ;). I didn’t realise Dora was the inspiration to begin with – didn’t recognise the song, I’m afraid. And I don’t know it, so my help was limited to writing out the alphabet, lower and upper case, for her to use as a crib sheet. That and saying “no” with increasing frequency and volume as extra letters were inserted (loudly) left, right and centre!

The morning started rather earlier than I like – Big was sick about 7am. She made it to a toilet, thankfully, and just wanted to sit and watch tv afterwards, so that wasn’t too bad. Later on she worked through some of an Arthur book she’d got on her last pink day with mother. It contained a wordsearch, some colouring, counting, and spot the differences, so plenty of skills being incidentally acquired there then 😉

Lots of legoing later, and then about three o’clock, Small fell asleep on the changing mat. Somewhat unusual for him to sleep during the day unless we’re in the car, so I brought him downstairs, and laid him out in a corner, expecting him to snooze for a few minutes, and he slept for an hour! Actions on waking up were to crawl onto my knee and try desperately to go to sleep again – he didn’t seem hot or anything, but I decided he had to be a bit off colour and took him up to bed. Where he slept for another two hours, woke rejuvenated and proceeded to bounce off the walls til nearly 11, despite me taking him back to bed at 10. 🙁

All of which made the work I was trying to do rather difficult. Grr. Never mind. Big and I had some quality time as we walked round to the post office together – I sent my square to Jan, and finally posted off some of my crochet squares. Discovered that that is going to bankrupt me – must explore different posting methods, as airmail is too expensive 🙁

Big watched some more time team, although she was a bit upset that Tony Robinson had hair in yesterday’s episode. It was followed by Seven Ages of Britain, which I found interesting, but she found too talky, at least until they got to the part about West Stow. The houses that they showed are thatched, and that is apparently interesting. Not quite sure why we have a fascination with thatch, but we do.

So that was yesterday. Up late trying to finish some work, and therefore slept in this morning, to be dragged out of bed when Small did horrid things in a nappy. Good morning all.
