yet more reading

I read The Friday Night Knitting Club and really enjoyed it, even though it made me cry. Quite a lot. I am a big softy.

I also finally finished reading And the Skylark Sings with Me: Adventures in Homeschooling and Community-based Education which I found very interesting and enjoyable, if almost implausible in parts. Or perhaps it’s just the utter dedication of these parents that scares me – I’m not convinced I could ever be a tenth part as responsive, understanding and resourceful as this pair were. Interested to see that he has written other books, has anyone read any of those? None in our library area sadly, or within reach of my still unspent £11 🙁

In other news, the children have signed up to Nanowrimo, in that I’ve incorporated it into our school day 😀 It is going down incredibly well with Small, who has written two chapters of his epic so far, and has a listing of what each chapter is going to include.

  1. I loved ‘and the skylark…’ as I blogged at the time. I exchanged emails with the author and found it a really inspiring read. I’ve not read any of his other stuff – similar to you my library didn’t have any and price was too high to buy off amazon.
