working my way through the washing

got another couple of loads through today. Hopefully I’ll be able to get the tent up to clean it tomorrow as well. Maybe get some gardening done too, and possibly a bit more paperwork.

I need to set myself clear goals, small achievable ones, and start making some inroads on the chaos my life and our house has become. Not quite sure whether I should provide activities for dd alongside this, or whether I should continue letting her sort herself out. On several levels she is becoming more self-sufficient, which is good, but there is little if any progress towards reading or writing. Now I understand that she is very young for that, and I’m totally for the idea of not introducing any formal education until much later (if at all) but I want her to read! I love reading…how can she not be reading by now????

lol.

Small had a couple of firsts today – managed to put his hat on himself, which was good, and managed to bite me hard on the shoulder which was not. 🙁

Having spent the morning doing washing and little bits of household stuff, spent the afternoon out at the city farm, with Sarah and tribe, and catching up with one of dd’s nursery friends. Good afternoon generally, except for dd falling and slicing her knee open – how come she only does this when I don’t have a first aid kit on me?

Anyway, only got small into bed a little while back, and I’m flagging myself. Sure there was something else I wanted to blog, but that’s going to have to do you for now.

  1. aargh, don’t talk to me about washing! Think I’ve just about finished mine now, but I’m sure as hell not bothering to put it away, it can go straight into cases!
Funnily, I found that over the past couple of days while I’ve been really busy myself, the kids have been so much better at amusing themselves (in the most part). I’m sure the reading will come – but it’s so hard to let go and trust that it will, isn’t it?

  2. Oh i SO know where you are. I know for a fact that at Frans’s age i was well into the Narnia books – i DON’T get it! Still, its not like that came from school, my mum taught me at 2 and i don’t think i have done anything fundamentally different, Fran just isn’t me. I hold Poppy up as a beacon of calm in my head! lol!
As for washing. Humphf. Just come down and the washroom is covered in water. Humphf.

  3. Owww for you and A, and well done S.
Know what you mean about small achievable goals. I’m trying that too. But to me, cleaning tent, gardening *and* some paperwork sound like three pretty big ones in my book!

  4. lol – well you do have a 3 week old baby!

  5. Can someone remind me later to sort our tent out before it goes mouldy in the garage
