Yesterday, me and the sprogs popped over to see Merry and co for the afternoon, and a lovely afternoon of catching up was had by all. Was very impressed with Maddy and Small who got together and got musical on the keyboard – very 80s synth sound going on 😉

Kids were amenable to amusing each other and Merry and I got more time to talk than we usually manage in a week’s camp (it’s a running joke between us that we go away for a week together and see each other only in passing!) I really must try and remember that it is less than 2 hours over there and so very feasible to go for the day – it’s not that much longer a drive than I used to do daily to work tbh. (Distance is double the work journey but if not travelling at peak times to Merry’s and given I was travelling at peak times to work, the driving time wasn’t much more and was far less stressful, except for the idiotic junction bit around Cambridge.)

Belted back via McDs (none for a year then two in two weeks!) just in time to get Big to swimming club, she seems to be getting nicely into it now. I think there was some kind of assessment going on last night, daresay we’ll find out about it in due course.

And that was Friday. Caught up with a bit of tv last night, and my first batch of books arrived from Amazon. I’d been stupid though and ordered the wrong duet book – I wanted descant and treble but accidentally ordered two descant instead 🙁 Oh well, such a shame to have to put in another order 😉

Rest of the Amazon order was good – have now got my first recorder book : Treble Recorder from the Beginning, yet another potential business craft book for Big, Micro Macrame Jewellery and picked up Flatland for the boy 😀 He was very happy and started it this morning. (Wonder how many 6 year old boys would be chuffed to be handed “A Romance of Many Dimensions”? This one was!)

And that was the end of our week. My outing this morning was just to dash around to the community hospital for stitches out – slightly annoying as the receptionist had written down my appt for yesterday instead of today, so apparently I have a DNA (did not attend) on my records now. I shall be Sorting That Out. Humph. Stitches are out now, and the incision is healing well – nurse remarked it could hardly have failed to given how tight the stitches were! It feels a lot more comfortable without them which is good.

  1. Think we’ll be starting with the recorder soon. Am a bit eek about suggesting it tbh – the last time we tried was just a tad screechy 😀

    1. Small struggles to get a decent sound out of his atm, but I’m hoping that with us all playing it will improve rapidly 🙂

  2. they are excellent recorder books! thanks to gina for the initial suggestion! and the descant-treble one is nice
