days that is. And I really mustn’t do this, if I don’t blog the day slightly after the fact, I lose all the details.
Let’s see, I’m trying to remember Sunday.
It started slowly I think, with children’s tv, most of which I loathe with a passion. But the children seem to enjoy it. Big was desperate to get out on her bike at some point, and also wanted to go to the library as she’s finished Mill Girl (My Story) and wanted another one from the same series. She has absolutely loved it – it’s set in her favourite time period after all – and I’m looking forward to reading her review of it.
Small decided he would tag along to the library, so we went down just after lunch, with me setting the tennis to record, well aware that if the children dawdled and Murray didn’t, I could miss the whole match!
Once at the library, Big was over the moon to check the reserve shelf and discover that Artemis Fowl and the Arctic Incident: 2 had arrived for her. So that was one happy girl, and her happiness was completed by finding Pompeii (My Story): A Roman Girl’s Diary, AD 78-79
on the shelf as well.
Small was just browsing, as he already has quite a few books at home. He pondered another Beast Quest, but I said he hadn’t read the one he’d got yet, so instead he found The Sunny Day Book, containing plenty of activities to amuse him.
While we were there, a free children’s activity was going on in the children’s area. This consisted of a librarian and several not so small children. The children were extremely badly behaved and rude, and the librarian was struggling to exert any kind of control over them. There weren’t any parents obviously in evidence either. Decided that we won’t add that to our group repertoire for the time being, kids can do without that kind of socialisation!
And so to home, and Tim’s turn, to take them to the park so that Big could have some offroad time to get used to her borrowed bike. Apparently she had a lovely time, and I have to admit that I enjoyed peace and quiet in the house for a little while 🙂
And so to Monday. I went to bed very early last night, which is why there was no blogging then. Didn’t assist my sleep all that much, I felt very restless and woke up several times, including, annoyingly at 6.15, which I feel is far too early to get up, although I know many ppl feel I’m missing the best part of the day by hiding under the duvet then.
Did rise but without shining at 8.30, and then frittered away the morning reading hundreds of emails that had appeared overnight. Children started the day as they had the day before with children’s tv, although I did try to direct them at some of the programmes I’d recorded for their delight and delectation. The only one that met their high standards was Primary History which today was on Catherine Parr. I think they’d seen it before, but they do like the history as presented by Terry Deary, so they were very happy to watch it again. Springwatch didn’t interest them (!) so instead they watched Victorian Farm. Again.
Then after lunch I took them to the park again, for more bike riding for Big and more swinging and general running around for Small. Once she’s a bit more confident we can concentrate on him, and I don’t think it’s going to take her long at all.
Home for another half an hour of Victorian Farm, and then Beavers time for Small. He seemed to enjoy it much more than last week, he came out with a small boat made out of a yoghurt pot, and as that’s the kind of thing that he’s been wanting to do for the last couple of days, it really cheered him up.
And I got to do some more of my TMA, so it wasn’t a wasted hour sitting in the car for me either.
And so there you go, two slightly more relaxed days in our household. Tomorrow is a bit packed with outings and first swimming lesson, so won’t be online much. Probably good for us all 🙂
