Thursday Jorvik and National Railway Museum.

After a really terrible night (the children took it in turns to wake up screaming, or lie on my throat, or just generally disturb me) we got ourselves organised and took the bus into the centre of the city to meet up with Joyce, Kath and Tech at Jorvik. I’d not met Tech before, so that was pleasant, especially as our youngest are very similar ages.

We presented our EO cards and got 10% discount on entrance (although Big and Small were free anyway, so it didn’t cost nearly as much as I was expecting). Turned out that Big didn’t want to go to a museum because she’s already been to a museum, and she know about the past – there were Romans. Ah, I guess something hasn’t quite sunk in there then. Once we persuaded her that she did want to go, she thoroughly enjoyed it, as did Small. Lots to see and do, even on his level, so that was good. It doesn’t take a huge amount of time though, so we were back outside by lunch time, and we ate our sandwiches sitting on a bench in the square.

After we’d all eaten we cleared off to the NRM. Small had a ride in the Ergo to get there, and that recharged him to get through the afternoon. No way was he going to let Big monopolise the various toys that there are there! So we must have been there for at least three hours, with only a brief sit down for a drink.

A bus ride home, chicken nuggets for the children, and before 7, Small was asking for his milk. He was asleep by 7, and apart from being woken by his sister as she went to bed (grr….) he slept for 14 hours. I’ll say that again. Fourteen hours! Wow. Meant that Ali and I could eat, and drink wine, and chat, and still go to bed relatively early! And when I went up to bed, for a moment I thought he’d escaped, he was sleeping on a mattress on the floor, and had crawled off across the room in his sleep!

  1. Good to have you back. Sounds like you had a good trip away (apart from the disturbed night)

  2. Ammi sleeps on the floor all the time – complete nutter that she is!

  3. Keep an eye on that! My sister washed her hair in her sleep! I just kept my exploits to peeing on my friend’s landing because it was geographically where the loo was in relation to my bedroom at home! (After about the 4th time, it did get a bit rediculous! And the worse thing was waking up mid wee in the pitch dark, in the wrong place.) LOL and BW
