Things I've learnt today.

We’re still doing the things I’ve learnt today routine during dinner. Sometimes it’s interesting, sometimes it’s excruciating. Today we learnt that we should always carefully check the boxes that come back from Christmas runs – apparently when I was packing up trying to fit everything in the car a while back I packed chocolate bars, a skeleton kit and an electronic pen (no, I don’t know what it goes with) into the solar boat kit box. Which we didn’t discover until Big decided she would do the solar kit today.

Oops. But all was well. So after she’d built the boat (which disappointingly only rows if you’ve got it held right up to a bright light source, which doesn’t really work too well for having it in water at the same time) she went on to build the skeleton. Which took two of us – the joints were very very tight. But we got it done in the end, and then celebrated with some of the chocolate 😉

Other things I learnt included that the Duke of Aumerle was cousin to Richard II – a useful thing to know when it wins you a competition for a purple digital camera and a copy of Richard II. Thank you Oxford Classics – am looking forward to that parcel arriving in the post.

And I learnt that a really fun way to spend a miserable afternoon is chatting with a friend. Which is something I should already know, but forget all too readily. Thanks for reminding me Sandy 🙂

  1. Very impressed that you have Christmas presents that still engage and occupy the children in August. And – erhm – thanks for the heads up about the Duke of Aumerle 😉

  2. Chatting is a lovely way to spend the afternoon, looking forward to doing it again soon 🙂
