The second half

I can’t really remember where I’d got up to. Think Weds we did two swims, one morning, one evening. Which probably means that I went with at least two children on Weds morning, and then most ppl went Weds evening. Think Weds was also the evening Helen came around and we introduced Tim to Blokus. Was quite impressed that I managed to go out, thus winning. Didn’t win the next game 😉

Thurs was a bit damp, but despite this we females departed early to be encouraging and supportive while sb and C did the Aerial adventure with Chris as their responsible adult. I had problems watching from the ground, and was very impressed with anyone with the gumption to go up there at all – Joanna finished her run not long after the two girls 🙂 After this I took our offspring swimming and got back just about in time for Michelle and Tim to go out to fetch Natty and offspring who were due to visit for the evening. They also bought food supplies, including jacket potatoes, and after we’d all swum, Beans came round for tea too, and gradually, Deependers joined in, as well as Joanna. It was an extremely convivial evening, with good food, good drink, good company, and surprisingly well behaved children, although the flickering images coming from the screen may well have helped that 😀

It did mean that I didn’t pack Thurs evening, instead setting alarm, getting up early and pottering about while Tim and Michelle power walked off (in the wrong direction 😉 ) to fetch the cars. At 10 to 10, we were very nearly done, when I was completely thrown by Karen from housekeeping arriving and taking up residence. We were out by about 10.15 I think, as I checked the time while Helen and I headed for yet more swimming and various adults returned cars to various places.

We all met in the pool one last time, which pretty much everyone on site seemed to be doing, probably encouraged by the very damp, cold weather. I was slightly irritated by some idiot father dragging his non swimming son around the rapids and nearly drowning me in the process (they paused on the last slide, I came around the corner to find them sitting there, couldn’t stop myself and crashed into them in the landing pool, catching my leg between the blokes and therefore getting well and truly stuck under the water. Not amusing.) Overall, it was still acceptable though.

And that was CP. I certainly don’t recommend it for the accommodation 😉 , but done the way we did it this time, with plenty of friends and lots of swimming, I really enjoyed it. I was shattered though by the end, I think I must have done around 14 hours in the pool, and only about 20 minutes of that was in the treasure cove on the very first evening, plus the spa session (which entailed two 25 minute walks) plus just the assorted walking around – more exercise than is usually fitted into several months, all crammed into 4 or so days. Next stop, the end of the country.

  1. Last time we went we had one of the plus apartments, which were dishwasher/tv in bedroom types – it had been recently done up and was very nice. Did you have more basic than that? I thoguht most had been upgraded by now.
Personally, i’ve got so used to a tent surrounded by mud that everything else seems like luxury!

  2. yes, it was more basic. The knob fell off the cooker, the tap in the bathroom dripped or had to be turned off more tightly than the children could turn. Didn’t find a dishwasher, although Michelle did find some other things we’ll not mention. Apparently that lodge is due to be refitted next week.

  3. our lodge still basic, but much nicer!

  4. Our lodge was slightly not-quite-as-nice as I’d expected, but perfectly OK really.
