Science, softplay and snoring.

It’s been a long day. Tigerboy woke me at 6, after not going to asleep until 2, and it took more than an hour, on and off to settle him enough to get myself organised and then prepare for the day ahead. The big kids had a science workshop today, and we’d a hefty drive to get them to it. There wasn’t really anywhere baby friendly for me to be, so I dropped my two off and retreated to softplay some distance down the road.

I don’t think I’ve taken Smallest to softplay before, and at £4.60 entrance it’s not going to become a regular outing. Which is a shame in some ways, she had a lovely time, and it was nice to spend time with just her and tigerboy. It doesn’t happen often, and I think she misses out on getting my full attention. She’s not as adventurous on the climbing frames and so on as I’d expected either and it occurs to me that I need to make a bit more of an effort to give her these varied experiences. Wonder if we could source some bits for the garden too, things like a balance beam would be nice.

Back to pick up the other two who had had a great time, and Small in particular seems newly enthused by science. Which is good, and well worth a long day and £10 a head.

And then we came home, getting back around 4, if I recall correctly. And then we had lunch 😉

Seconds anyway. I bought a single cooked lunch at softplay £5.70 for cheese and broccoli pasta bake with chips. (I know, really balanced. But I knew that both small people would eat it, and they did. Meaning I didn’t get very much.) Is it me or is that rather expensive? Big signs everywhere saying no food and drink apart from what they sell, so I saved our packed lunch til we got home.

Big too tired to swim tonight, so at least I got an easy evening. And now most of us are in bed, and dp has fallen asleep on the sofa. Hence the snoring.

Like I said, a long day. But nicely educational all round, so that’s good. Ooh, and I made a new recipe. Courgettes, tossed in sea salt, fried in hot pan. I chucked in some pine nuts to toast alongside, and there was more pasta, this time with bolognese for the rest of the family. Really good. I’m enjoying this cooking lark.

  4. Sounds like a great day. Yes soft play is expensive and it’s a shame they don’t let you bring food in, but I guess it’s how they make their money x
