Sarah's Friday Four

Thanks to Sarah for this.

# 1. How many times have you moved house in your life (now, work out the average number of moves per year of your life … !! We all know Merry is a hot favourite for the most here but her children might do better …)

Um, let’s see. I think I’ve lived in 15 houses, but there might have been one or two more when I was young. Edited to add: Oh, I’ve just remembered another one, a temporary flat in between living in halls and getting my bedsit. So that’s 16 of my own, plus I had to move back to my parents in between universities, does that count? I do know that I’d moved at least 3 times by the time I was 2. So over my life that’s one every 2 years or so…must be giving Merry a bit of a run for her money? It’s also why I hate moving now.

# 2. Do you have a moving highlight or disaster you can tell us about?

I think swapping houses when we moved into a general store and off license was interesting – ie the family we bought from bought our house, which meant we had to move on the same day. It was so much fun 😉 that we did the same when we moved out of the shop! Not quite sure what the odds of that are either.

I suspect though, that dp will rate moving my books unpacked last time we moved as a bit of a disaster – we got 24 hours notice that we were getting the keys, and we were a month over in our rented house. All my books got chucked in the back of the white van we rented and just moved like that. Fun. Not.

# 3. What’s your favourite place you’ve lived and why?

Durham. I was born there and went back to university, it’s just always felt like home. After I graduated I had a little bungalow on a sheltered housing road called The Haven, which seemed really appropriate. It was right on the edge of a village and was so peaceful. I had cats there, my own front door…I loved it.

# 4. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Durham. It just feels like home. See above.
