Plenty of stitching

though we skipped on the bitching 😉

Went over to Nikki‘s house today, along with Kirsty and Kris. It was lovely 🙂

Managed to post bookbags on the way and took a couple along for delivery as well. Took my crochet as well, although it would appear that having to keep running out to find out why Small is screaming is *not* conducive to following a pattern. Ah well, won’t take terribly long to do it again 🙁 Most of the time he was screaming because he doesn’t like being cuddled, and unfortunately the other two toddlers thought that he looked pretty cuddly 🙂

Big had a wonderful time playing with Nikki’s younger son which I was very happy to see – she usually treats boys as if they are invisible so it was good to see her just getting along with one. They all seemed to have a fabulous time actually – we were practically redundant, didn’t see them for ages. Very nice.

Was good to spend time chatting – there does seem to be something very relaxing about having everyone sitting around knitting or crocheting, and we got to talk loads. I really really enjoyed it. Even if I’ve got to start the shrug again. 🙂

Tiny bit of shopping on the way home, and then we were spotting different types of houses. Big is beginning to show an interest in architecture, or at least, styles and ages of houses. This is growing out of the history interest – we’ve been looking at a day in the life of a tudor household and that included looking at the house. The one in our book is beamed, and I was quite surprised to discover that one of the houses in the estate behind our house is now externally beamed.

I’ll put this in context, these are prefabs

Damn. Effusive post interrupted by Big copiously redecorating landing and bathroom. Bless her, she tried so hard to get to the toilet. 🙁

will hopefully return to the more pleasant aspects of this tomorrow. Sorry guys – hope we haven’t infected anyone. Kirsty, I’ll call you in the morning.

  1. Oops! Sorry, I think that will have been our bug.

You were very welcome 🙂 Maybe it might be a better idea to bring something more simple next time! I went on a spree looking at very tempting books of crochet patterns last night – but restrained myself to only ordering two more knitting books (one of which I won on ebay anyway – coincidentally that baby bootees one I mentioned was on ebay that night, ending at around midnight).
I found the book I mentioned re. Tudor fashion under the sofa this morning when I was clearing up – you’re still very welcome to borrow it next time you’re over.
Thanks for the book bag, we’ll have to suspend it in a conspicuous place when we go to the Festival of History.

  3. Was a great day – most relaxing and I even got my little baby knit finished. The kids were fabulously behaved too 🙂
No barfing here, so fingers crossed the bug hasn’t been transmitted. Although, depends how long the incubation period is – hopefully they won’t start upchucking in the van this weekend!

  4. I went on a tempting spree of looking at crochet patterns and wasn’t nearly as restrained! Found lots of free patterns too.
Big seems fine now, was only last night, although she did sleep til 10 this morning. Small didn’t though, so if you’ll excuse me, I’ll have to blog tomorrow….yawn….

  5. O, IKWYM about toddlers and concentrating on crocheting/knitting, or anything, really. It’s ok if you’re on a boring bit that you can just put down and pick up wihout needing any recollection of where you left off. That just about sums up life, though. Is that what it’s like to be a goldfish, I wonder, only having a memory of 2 seconds?

Scribbling on patterns is handy (so you know where you are) – although I can now knit & bf, plus knit with small child bouncing on me (as long as she’s got her hand down my top or can see out the window, she’s happy).
