Philosophy finally useful

Last night Big and I discussed whether you could step into the same river twice. It was quite a fun discussion, ended only when my parents arrived to drop off a dryer now surplus to my sister’s requirements. They also brought Small’s birthday present, a LEGO City 7906 Fireboat which took nearly an hour to build with assistance from two small ppl, but has been played with pretty much all day today. To help in our decluttering aims, she also decluttered three more Ann Geddes dolls into Big’s collection, which helped 😕

Big has been studying history today by watching Doris Day films, which led to quite a few questions about life in 1917 (horse drawn carriages instead of cars, early cars which needed a handle turning to start the engine, very different clothes). Small tolerated these and amused himself making hama bead bracelets, various telescopes out of toilet rolls and parcel tape and of course playing with lego. His treat at the end of all of this was to watch Toy Story, which brought us back to philosophical questions of how you can know that you are real.

Which is quite enough pondering for a Saturday evening, so now I’ve got the kettle on to boil water to make them some pasta.

Tim has finally managed to coordinate time, energy and lack of rain with getting the lawn mower out – the lawn was getting seriously out of control but hasn’t been dry enough for cutting in weeks. The kitten lay at the back door watching this all this activity, he really wants to get outside. I’m kind of nervous about this next step for him, I really don’t want to lose him.
