This is a sponsored post. Let’s get that out of the way at the top, so no one gets to the bottom and feels cheated. Having said that, I’d be really grateful if you did read, because I think this is a fabulous project and deserves more attention, regardless of whether I’m getting paid for it. The getting paid does mean though that I am focussing on doing it in a timely manner! Right, OK, where was I?
I’m pleased I got asked to blog about this project, otherwise I’d never had come across it. I’m racking my brains for a way to enter the challenge, but that’s proving tough, but then again, it is tough to use technology, even fab tech from Sony, to think of ways to change the world.
Because that is what this is about. A fantastic challenge to reuse technology in ways that will benefit us all. This is the brief – and you can find .
I’ve joined up to the site as liveotherwise. I’m working on the changing behaviours area, wondering if there is a way to link up gaming using the PSP with reward concepts for real world behaviours like walking to the shops, buying less anyway, using solar chargers and so on.
My concept summary reads as follows:
I believe many ppl would like to live in a more environmentally friendly way, but struggle to work out what decisions to make and what impact those decisions have. I’d like to design a computer simulator/ game that could run take a scenario in and then play out different results depending on the decisions made.
Can you come up with something better? Or can you contribute/ expand on mine, or anyone else’s concept? I bet someone out there can. You’ve got all this tech to use – GPS, Peer-to-Peer software, Dye sensitized solar cell among others – and Sony will work with the winning contributor to release their Intellectual Property into the public domain so that the world can benefit from the tech.
What are you waiting for? Go and join in. Please. And get your kids involved. They don’t know that we can’t do this, and it’s their future too.
ps if you have any difficulties joining up to or navigating the site, please drop me a comment – I’m not an expert, but I’ve played around on there a bit and I may be able to help ![]()
Ooh, they’ve fixed the widget! If you sign up and take part, you too could have a great widget like this on your blog! 😀
