Off is not a channel

said Small, very seriously to Tim. Made me giggle.

We’ve had better days. I can’t shake this cold, stayed in bed being pathetic for most of the morning again. Then dragged myself through the shower and into clothes, and against my better judgement, chucked the kids in the car and went off to the outlet for shoes.

Complete waste of time – every pair we tried on Small hurt the back of his feet (got a bad feeling this is just because shoes are harder than sandals, and we’re moving from sandals to shoes 🙁 ). And as for Big, we tried on all the shoes in her size (13!!) and one pair in particular she said to me – I can’t wear these, they make me wobble. Why are they selling shoes with heels for 6 year olds? And as for the boots – there isn’t a chance I’d be able to walk in some of them!

So we’ll be making a trip to Meadowhall later in the week, to see what we can find for full price. I’m not looking forward to it already.

We also went to Toys R Us, to look at games consoles. We are yet again considering leaping into the waters of games ownership, and I wanted to look at the sizes of some of the portable ones. Wasn’t particularly successful – game boy advance appears to have pretty much departed, the micro is tiny, and I can just see Small taking the DS to pieces (and in case you think I’m kidding, one of these days I’m going to keep a list of the things he takes apart on a single day!) I’d also hoped that they might have some vaguely crafty stuff in there, but they didn’t really, so all in all, a bit of a wash out.

Tim shopped while we were out, then somehow, once we got back, we managed to fit crafting and games in as well as tea and bath. Big made two cards from the Crafts for Kids book, which is rapidly becoming one of our favourites, and then she played Chess and Mastermind after tea. Small contrived to water the bathroom floor (perhaps he isn’t quite ready to go to the loo on his own yet then) so got an early bath, and now Tim is wrangling them into bed.

I’m about to do some more excavation, then I want to do a bit of prep for tomorrow, and some crafting.

Wish me luck.

  1. Shoe Zone had some lovely girlie shoes with nice sensible flat soles if that’s any help?

    Giggle…btdt!
We’ve got a deep blue gameboy advance we no longer require, i was going to trade it in but if you want it, you are welcome to it 🙂

  3. Wait untill she’s wearing an adult size 6 if you think its hard now. We’ve abandoned shoe shopping twice already in the last week.

  4. ooh, Merry, you’re on!
mailing you now – must be something I have kicking around we can trade, or I could even pay you!

  5. I think i probably owe you 😉

  6. I “think” Dh and DD are in Meadowhall as I write! Wonder if you will be walking past!

  7. drove past it twice, but we didn’t make it there today. You don’t live this neck of the woods do you?

  8. DS1 has an issue with lots of shoes that have that curvy support bit at the back. He prefers them if they are flat at the back so Clarks is generally out. Adams & John Lewis has been quite good in the past but it does take far more effort to find ones that don’t have that curvy bit. Just something else to try but then what do I know, DS3 hasn’t worn shoes for at least a week LOL!
