Music and Suffolk show day one.

Weds morning is music morning. And after music today we were heading for the Suffolk Show 🙂

After music we usually head off, so why did it take me so much longer than usual to get organised this morning? I’ve no idea. I apologised for us being even later than usual – we usually run in a couple of minutes after the start of the session no matter how hard I try. Today we were 20 minutes, and I was ashamed of myself 🙁

Anyways, got to the show – got to say that it is well worth paying for the Vice President tickets if only to skip the queues for the carparks and get the decent toilets! By the time you’ve been two days it doesn’t cost that much extra either 😉

Show was good. Very different to the agricultural shows I’m used to – I don’t think I’ve been to one on a permanent showground before. Lovely to spend the day with Tim’s brother’s family as well. I think the kids particularly appreciated the icecream 🙂

We saw chicks and ducklings, thelwell ponies, goats, paratroopers landing in the arena, an ex-MP (I resisted the urge to ask him why he didn’t reply to all my letters), lovely spinning wheels (oh, I want a spinning wheel….) and I can’t remember what else. Weather was perfect – warm but not blazing, little breeze to keep the air moving. Kids and I had our hats on – soa particularly fetching in a handfashioned muslin bandana.

I have remembered soa at lunchtime, stealing bits of my sandwich. So much fun watching her working out that she didn’t have the food at the right angle to get into her mouth, so dropping it into my hand so that she could pick it up again, in a better grip this time. You could almost see the little cogs whirring round as she figured it out.

Home all tired out and we sat as a family and watched Dustbin Baby which I think we all enjoyed. Well, Small spent most of the time exploring his new Real Castles (Book & CD), one of his excellent birthday presents. It was a good end to a fun day.
