Got some more of my crochet done last night 🙂
Another lovely day yesterday. After a very disturbed night, Big showed no sign of rising at her usual time, so I left her to it and got up with Small. It was rather nice having some one to one time with him. We played with jigsaws and tweenie cards, and were just watching Something Special on families, when the power went off. And stayed off.
Big surfaced at 10, and the peace and quiet didn’t really survive much longer. She seemed pretty much OK though, so called Kirsty and let her know it was alright to come round, but after lunch. So she did, and we had a very pleasant afternoon, exploring pattern sites, chatting, and occasionally interacting with the children, who mainly did very well, although Big was still a bit short tempered. It was going so well that I invited them to stay to tea, and made pizza for us all, which also went down very well. 🙂
During and after bath, read some more of Ballet Shoes which we started again the day before at Big’s request. Last time I tried reading it, a good few months ago, she wasn’t interested. This time she brought it to me, and I’ve agreed that I’ll read it as and when she requests. Which seems to be working well 🙂
This morning, Big had a bit of a breakthrough, completely self-directed. She found a little notebook that she’s had forever and started writing in it. She often does this – just drawing wiggly lines, and then ‘reading’ what it says. Only today she started writing in recognisable letters, and wrote ‘it was’ pretty legibly. I did have to explain about leaving a gap between words, as I was struggling to read the next line, not knowing where one finished and the next began. Overall I was extremely impressed though.
After that, I performed major excavation work on the table, attempting to find her Reading Voyage card. Pretty much cleared the table, only to discover the card on the floor. Ah well, at least I found it! She put two books on, so got more stickers when we braved the weather and made it to the library.
Home for lunch, and she did a little knitting, and then listened to a book on tape. They are now both zoned out watching pinocchio, and I’m wondering about doing some crochet. Or having a nap. Nap sounds mighty good actually.

Hey, we’ve just gone back to Ballet Shoes and they’re quite enjoying it, (well , mainly J listens- It’s nice that she still wants to be read to- she seems to be having a break from reading books herself, but I’m sure something will grab her attention sooner or later.) J also still sometimes forgets to leave a space between words when writing, tho not on the computer, interestingly.
I remember filling notebooks with lines and letter-like shapes. I was copying my sister. If it goes from left to right, and top to bottom, that is pretty impressive, I’d say.F still has to be shown which way round to open a card, and where to start.
The nap,go for the nap ,everytime!!
I had supreme nap this afternoon……..
