end of first week with new member of staff on board – we’ve got by through quite a challenging week so that’s gone fairly well. I’m beginning to feel on top of classroom management on some days – for some reason Thursday seems to go a bit pear shaped, obviously need to work harder then. Today I had my baptism of fire in terms of small child not using toilet related accidents – took me back to my days in residential care, and wasn’t nearly as bad as that used to be, so came out of it smiling (though definitely not smelling of roses 😉 )
Have been enjoying looking at pictures on a montessori related blog, so thought I’d share. They really are most wonderful – the room looks very peaceful as well. Not sure that mine is ever quite that calm and collected, but I can dream, can’t I?
Small appears to have moved on to a new phase in art – he’s now using the various how to draw books to attempt to draw things. I haven’t managed to explain that some of the lines are supposed to be temporary lines – I have found my copy of Drawing with Children
so I might see if he’d like another go at that this weekend – Big and I both really enjoyed it last time we did it, so she’d probably enjoy it too.
I’ve got the dates for my first aid course – two Saturdays this month. I’m really pleased that it’s so soon, just wish it didn’t involve losing two weekends, but that’s the way it goes. And I’ve a Health and Safety course next month, just to add to the fun. Must do something about OU as well, wouldn’t want to miss out on signing up :/ We may be doing some signing classes at school too, those will be one evening a week although hopefully that will be next term. My life is filling up nicely – all those spare hours that used to get spent on the M1 are evaporating away into I’m not quite sure what. Have started sewing myself a softie robot out of felt from our local haberdashery, but other than that, don’t have much to show for my evenings apart from a losing streak of scrabulous games.
Can’t even do a book post this week – I haven’t read anything! Will have to try to rectify that over the weekend 🙂
