We have a *lot* of dolls in this house. They pass in and out of favour, although some are more popular than others. And Tigerboy has never really clicked with any of them, until now.
When I was offered the chance to review a Bonikka doll from Imajo toys, I confess that I assumed Smallest would be the one doing the playing. But this turned out to be the doll that made the difference to Tigerboy, and she’s rarely been far from his side since she arrived, except when Smallest kidnapped her 😉
Her name is Julia.
She’s beautiful isn’t she? And very photogenic 😉
Not that you can see that much when she’s being cuddled!
This is slightly clearer. I asked him “why do you love Julia?” and he said “she got a happy face like me!”
Given that he adores the doll so much, I thought I’d let him tell you all about it.
Transcript:
Me: Can you tell me about Julia?
T: Yes.
Me: What do you like about Julia?
T: (Pause) I like Julia’s faces. I love his face too. I love his dress too. I love his flowery dress too.
Me: What do you do with Julia?
T: I play!
OK, so it’s not the clearest product review video in the world 😉 But I think the genuine pleasure comes through, and you can tell it’s not prompted, it’s completely heartfelt.
He loves everything about her, from her stripy socks (which bring Pippi Longstocking to mind for me) to her flowery T shirt, and her smily face.
*I* love that she’s fair trade, made in Sri Lanka in a factory where workers get fair pay, including paid holidays, and the materials include recycled filling and locally produced fabrics. She came with absolutely minimal packaging too – basically a plastic bag and a cardboard tag, instead of the piles of cardboard and plastic so often associated with toys.
All in all, Julia is a very welcome new member of the family, and if you’re looking for a lovable rag doll for someone near to you for some upcoming celebration or other 😉 I highly recommend the Bonikka range.
Currently on sale with Babipur, for example Julia Also available at Jolly Dollies, the new doll shop from Playmerrily.

I’ve added this review to the #SSAmazingAchievements linky. Just a few months ago Tigerboy had no speech at all. He’s come a long way, as you can see in the video 🙂
