Little lifesavers from Dylon and Radox

One of the perks of being recognised as a mummy blogger (much as I detest that term, quite frankly) is being sent lovely little presents. One of the downsides of this is having to work out what to put in reviews of them. Particularly when they aren’t huge things, so writing a whole post about them feels overly commercial, and I don’t really want to do that to the blog. It feels dishonest though not to review them at all, so I decided I’d round up a couple of bits that have been kicking around for a while simply because I’m a laggard and couldn’t think of how to do it.

A little while back I was sent some Colour Catchers from Dylon. Nifty little bits of paper that you add to your wash that absorb stray dye instead of it floating around and dulling your other clothes. Like so.

This is your before shot – a nice white piece of paper.

Colour catcher before use.

And after.Colour catcher after use.

Got to be better doing it that way than letting it go on your other clothes, surely?

Another nice gift recently was a mum’s survival pack from Radox. Radox mums' survival kit A very nice cloth tote bag, with three Radox hand gels (the kind of no water hand wash things), a pocket first aid kit, pack of moshi monster top trumps and a plastic water bottle.

The first aid kit has proved handy a couple of times – when Smallest was stung by a wasp I used an antiseptic wipe to cool down the sting, and when she grazed her knee I cleaned it with another one. Will have to restock it with some more! The hand gels were invaluable at Wilderness and I always carry one in my rucksack when we’re out and about during the day. You never know when children might get peckish, and you never know where they might have had their hands first. Or you might have to change a nappy and not have access to a sink to wash your hands afterwards – hand gel is an absolute boon for that.

So, both small packages a success here. Tell me, dear reader, have you had any lovely blogging perks recently?

  1. really ought to make some effort to get a few goodies at some point…. am too bone idle for my own good!
As for re-kitting your first aid box with wipes – those rather lovely hand gels will do the job just as well, blob some on a hankie if you need to have a bit of precision applying it. It may sting a bit depending on what’s in it but then, so do the wipes!
