Let's see…

there’s been loads happening here this week.

Monday is Beavers, can’t remember what went on before it. Kids are going through another phase of long involved imaginative games in their bedroom and then today, the garden, which I do love to see.

Tuesday may have been the day they rediscovered tutpup. It was also swimming lesson day, which is hugely less than fun now that Small is at 4.30 and Big is at 6. The evening was slightly enlivened when the lights went out at about 5.35. It takes 20 minutes for them to warm up and come back on above the pool, just in time for Big’s first session wearing clothes. According to another parent the group she is in now are working at around level 6/7, an excellent improvement on this time last year when basically she couldn’t swim at all 🙂 I rang up for an application form for the swimming club, which hasn’t arrived yet and I must chase.

Wednesday is a busy day. Music in the morning, support group in the afternoon, Brownies in the evening. Good day though I think.

On Thursday we went out for lunch, round to D and S and then afterwards for a stroll round town. Big and I got an excellent haul at a charity shop on the way back: three books, a biuld your own dino robot and 5 hand knitted barbie dresses, all for £3.80. I do love the charity shops in this town 🙂

On Friday I suffered blood pressure problems when I listened to radio 2. I was so incensed by the allegation that Victoria Climbie was home educated (she wasn’t in case you were wondering(pdf link)) that I actually rang in. Interesting that I didn’t make it to air 🙁 Other ppl have covered Fern Britton, Khyra Ishaq and the home education question extremely well. Much better than Fern, who should be ashamed of herself.

I calmed down again by going to baby massage. It’s a lovely session, and afterwards there’s time to chat with the other mothers, not one of whom has so much as blinked at our home education. In fact two of them have seriously considered it themselves, both for children with SEN, which says something very sad about the state of our school system and how it caters for the most needy.

Evening we had a lovely family meal, which somehow morphed into a family session on number series. Fun 🙂 Did I forget to mention that both kids signed up to try out maths-whizz this week? They seem to like it, so we might go for it. And that was our week 🙂
