ID cards doomed, say officials – Sunday Times – Times Online

Slow news day today is it? Can’t help feeling this really ought to have been a headline, haven’t seen a sniff of it on bbc news though, or in the guardian for that matter. Only found it when following a link from Butterflies and wheels to something else entirely.

So there you go, looks like ID cards are falling by the wayside. Wonder if there’s anything we can do to help (what’s the emoticon for an evil grin?)

  1. Bwa ha haa!
You can see why MPs like kicking civil servants, when they go and spoil good policies with irrelevant details like reality. I wonder how much money will be sunk into this before they realise it won’t work? I should tone down the cynicism and be grateful that at least there’s hope now.

  2. The Register, as ever, has a bit of analysis and opinion.

  3. …we can only hope

  4. Only wish it would take the Children’s Database down with it!

  5. I would imagine it is only a matter of time Carlotta 🙂

  6. Further analysis from The Register, reading the political signals and finding encouraging things.
The Children’s Database? Isn’t that the Tesco Clubcard baby & toddler club thing? Funny how government has a hard time implementing Big Brother, but Big Business does it with worrying efficiency.
