Good start to the day

I’ve been thinking a lot about this going out to work lark, and it’s having a definite (positive) affect on my state of mind. I’m aware that my time with my children might be about to be severely limited, and so I’ve made a conscious decision to make it more enjoyable. Sad that it takes a big change to make me realise and do this, but hey, better now than never. I’ve been taking our time for granted, and that’s a foolish thing to do.

So this morning I’ve been watching in a very relaxed way as they’ve both played with glue and glitter – Big has made a beautiful butterfly style piccie that I’m struggling to capture with the camera to share, and Small has thoroughly enjoyed shaking glitter about and stamping stuff.

This was after a quick session on money values – Big suddenly wanted to know how much money she has. She’s still fixated on buying a Lil Handful (anyone seen one anywhere? I object to buying one online where it’s going to cost as much to post again as the doll is itself) and therefore keeps counting her money to see how much she’s got. I’m going to be horribly contrived and give her her pocket money in change just to keep her practising as well 😉

  1. I know that feeling of being more positive about parenting time when/because there is going to be work time. I quite enjoy my paid work (freelancing at home) and just knowing that that is there for later, sometimes makes me much better able to also enjoy parenting time, in a way that I’m not sure I would if I didn’t have the paid work as well.

  2. it does make life sometimes feel more cramped though, as I find a breathing time for me is snatched in 5 min bursts.
could do with an extra hour or 6 in the evening!

  3. So she’s getting the money sussed then? Cool 🙂

  4. Seems to require a certain amount of internal motivation, now there’s a surprise 😉 Shame that the reading isn’t coming along as quickly – but it seems to be a maths time of month atm.
