Friends and camping shop

On Saturday we spent a leisurely morning with friends, partly putting up our tent, and then decamped with Small to visit a couple of local camping shops, Springfield Camping and Go Outdoors. The latter has a particularly large display of tents, having put a lot of larger ones up in a field next to the showroom, and then having various smaller expedition type tents on small platforms just outside. We were particularly surprised by the Hi Gear DS4 pitch and go tent which seemed very stable, although I did like the various Vango expedition type tents as well. Prices aren’t quite as likeable though!

Big had had a great time just playing with her friends, and Small benefited from a bit of fewer ppl time, although he did get a bit upset when he realised we’d gone on to a second shop instead of heading back via Morrisons as he’d expected us to.

Never mind, he recovered. And then we did do a bit of shopping and headed back for more food and socialising.

Sunday followed much the same pattern. Tim went for a geocaching walk on the hills, and then down to the stream, and I did chauffeur duty to the nearest railway station, on the grounds that I hadn’t been drinking, our car was accessible *and* I knew where the station was 🙂 It was a lovely day for sitting out in the sun, so we did just that, and I applied sun lotion furiously to myself and the kids, though not to Tim, who went very pink later on. Oops.

Oh, and I fitted in some crochet, amusing myself by telling Small I didn’t know what I was making, and he said what a shame it didn’t say on the pattern. Hm. You mean like where it says Owl at the top? But he didn’t notice, and for ages believed it was a snowman 😆 The pattern was actually Snowy Owl from youcanmakethis.com

All in all, it was a wonderful relaxing weekend. I didn’t get my camera out of the bag at any point I don’t think, but there are some great pictures in many of the usual places, including a lovely one of Small captured as Buzz Lightyear (thanks for that Kirsty 🙂 ) by Sarah.
