First birthday of the week.

In our family anyway! May does seem to be a busy month for birthdays. The kids made wrapping paper and wrapped up their presents and then we gave them to Tim, he got a book on 50 Walks in Suffolk from Big, Purple Ronnie’s Little Book for the World’s Best Dad from Small and Paint Your Own Gnome from me. With some pistachio nuts 🙂

In the afternoon we had the first of the playdates with Big’s new Brownie friends, which went off very well. We went to one girl’s house and another was invited there too, she brought along her nearly 6 year old sister so eventually we had 4 children running around and screaming 🙂 After they’d done that for a while inside we took them to a local park and let them do the running and screaming outside, much easier on the ears.

It was a good afternoon, and with a bit of luck, we should get to do it again sometime soon. The two girls are close friends with each other, as are their parents, and they were all quite open to the home education angle, despite the fact that the first girl’s parents are both teachers. Small had a mainly good afternoon, although he did poke the other young girl with a stick at some point. He’s desperate to make friends of his own now, but he’s got no idea of how to go about it – I’m hoping that his Beaver’s group might help out there. Think I forgot to mention that he got his letter saying that he gets to start on 1st June, he was thrilled about it. Thankfully the letter also said he’s not allowed to wear the uniform until after investiture which is after 4 weeks of trial sessions, so he’s stopped going on about that for now 🙂

So all in all, a good day all round.
