Dinner by candlelight

and requests for hothousing.

It was an odd day yesterday.

Um, struggling to remember much of it – the drawback of regular blogging I think, as usually I don’t have to apply my memory, I can just read back. Do know that my parents popped round, seemed to be wanting to discuss the HE thing, but sort of didn’t. Could have been because the children were about I suppose.

Oh I remember, we shopped. Netto – managed to go earlier in the day, so got fruit, but they didn’t have any decent bread. 🙁

And then, after my parents had gone, a sad little girl. I’m not quite sure where it came from, but apparently she wants to do more learning. More maths, more english, more everything. And she wants her life to stop changing – she wants me to go out to work again, she’s not even entirely sure whether she wouldn’t rather be back at nursery (not really possible though, age wise!)

Hm. Came from left field that one. And to top it, Tim and I had planned a structure of me disappearing upstairs to get some work done – ah that would be another change then 🙁

So we had a very cuddly evening with a slightly deflated little girl – and then the lights went out.

And stayed out. Til after I’d given up and gone to bed in fact – I went up about ten, the lights had gone out just after eight. Glad that we took up camping last year – it means we have a couple of camping lanterns so Big could have a portable light source in her room that doesn’t involve flames. Also glad that we have a gas hob, pasta and sauce for tea then?

This morning I cracked through some reading and maths with Big as requested yesterday, and the reading went pretty well, as did the maths. In fact, I rather think that the maths itself is a bit too straightforward, but she is beginning to read some of the words around it as well, so I think we’ll persevere a bit longer.

Then we went shopping, to two Lidls, looking for the waterproof dungarees that were supposed to be on offer. First shop had limited pairs, so I bagged them on the principle that if they don’t fit my kids, they’ll fit someone we know, second shop had none. And Big was depressed because I spotted the sign before she did. (beats head against brick wall….)

But I got several hours to myself and actually did some paperwork this afternoon! Can’t do any more tomorrow though – Tim’s osteopath. Oh well. Just have to educate the children instead 😉

AAhhhh to Big. Well, see having structure for big is autonomous, she wants it!

  2. I agree: if she’s in charge, even hothousing’d be autonomous. Autonomous hothousing! Who’d have thought it? LOL
