Developmental milestones

but not ones I like – Small has learnt to pick his nose. Eeuwww….

He has also developed this neat trick of coming and getting me by the arm and dragging me off to look at various things – was very proud of building the five blocks from his musical thingy into a tower and I had to clap for that (he applauds himself as well, very cute). And he helped me hoover. Which seems reasonable, as most of the mess was food he’s thrown on the floor 😉

Between them, the children woke me at just before 7 this morning. They mainly entertained themselves with varying levels of success until A’s mum came for him at lunchtime – at which point Big was distraught. “But who am I going to play with?” Let’s just disregard the fact you’ve had someone here for the past 24 hours shall we? Aargh….

anyway, she got the next few folders of MMM stuff that we got from Jan yesterday, and spent most of the afternoon playing in her room with cut out dressable figures. Which meant that it was just me and Small tidying. Once I managed to find the floor it felt like I’d made some headway, but I did that at the expense of the sofas….basically we’ve got too much stuff! (Which is not a good state of affairs this close to Christmas – I might have my mother onside with the idea we don’t need loads more crap, but I’m not sure about the rest of the family.)

So by the end of the day I was tired and tetchy – I thought about titling this post, “Hi I’m Jax, I’m a blog addict” – I was positively twitchy with the machine turned off! My mood was not improved by Small being a little swine when I finally took him to bed and headbutting me several times, and biting me twice, or by the fact that Big went to bed in (extremely loud, dramatic) tears without her story.

But I’ve eaten, and I’ve watched the 4400, and I’m gonna do a little bit of work before I clear off to bed, and hope that tomorrow is a better day….

  1. Last year when Ammi killed my camera, i went round in a total temper and sold every toy which was either not used often or was something that when it was used it caused me more stress than happiness! It was a good move!

  2. We have a floor AND a sofa now – but the 2 chairs are piled up. Ho hum, progress but at a price. We too have to get rid of toys.

  3. Oz seems very similar to small. He delights in headbutting and hitting me too. Must be a boy/mummy thing. I hope he grows out of it though :0
