You’re not funny.
It was not amusing yesterday when dp twisted or turned or bent funny, and ended up with his back locking up. It was far too reminscent, for both of us, of the time some years ago when he slipped a disc. And given that I’m 35 weeks pregnant, the size of a whale and struggling with my own back and hip issues, having the pair of us limping and ouching our way round the house may seem laughable to others, but it’s more likely to make me want to cry.
I wasn’t particularly enamoured of the idea of doing his breakfast meeting either, but at least you didn’t make it snow beforehand. So there was only the early start (leaving the house at 6.30? ugh.) after a night of next to no sleep, convinced I was going to sleep through the alarm, so waking with a start regularly to discover only a few more minutes had gone by. I didn’t enjoy that either.
The meeting was OK – apparently I did dp better than he does 😉 Better drop mother a thank you note for all those speech and drama lessons! And thank you for the osteopath having an extra slot so that she could fit us both in today instead of only one of us – I was being ever so brave giving up my appt to him, but I really needed that stretching and pummelling too.
Right, we need to talk about the radiator. There is nothing in the remotest bit hilarious about a radiator developing a hole and leaking quietly and continuously under the living room carpet for hours. Not when it’s only a year since the radiator was fitted after the last time one gave up in that room. (That wasn’t funny either. Crawling around on the wet floor with my hand pressed to a hole while dp tried to turn the water off in the middle of the night is not a good way to spend the nights between christmas and new year.) That makes 5 radiators (I think) that have leaked since we moved into this house 3 years ago; I’m developing a complex.
I will give thanks for supplying helpful relatives 5 minutes walk down the road. Being able to drop the children off there so that I could still get to the osteopath, while dp’s brother assisted with radiator emergencies did help lots.
Spending lots of money having my back unkinked by our lovely osteopath and then having to rekink it vaxing the carpet wasn’t in my plan. But it has to be said that the carpet doesn’t look too bad now.
Discovering that the GPs surgery hasn’t dealt with the form I left them a month ago could have been the icing on the cake, but no, you’d saved the expiration of yet another household appliance for that. Still, at least you let dp finish hoovering the nearly dry carpet before the hoover snapped into two pieces.
But to be honest, I think that’s enough for one day. Or possibly for this month. If you don’t mind.
Thank you.
